This training course was conducted from the 24th to the 26th of February 2020 at the Karachi Traffic Police Headquarters and had the following learning objectives for the participants:
1. Understanding of the national, regional and global strategic context of the current road safety situation.
2. Identifying the key data required for evidence based road safety enforcement planning, implementation, and evaluation.
3. Understanding the importance of intelligence led and data driven road safety enforcement.
Members of the TA team meeting in Karachi on 4 December 2019 with Ghulam Abbas Detho, Secretary, Mass Transit and Transport. Useful discussions in relation to the draft model Road Safety Act covered a range of issues, including the integration of vehicle registration processes and safety concerns relating to large vehicles and passenger transport vehicles.
Consultation with Provincial Government agencies in relation to the draft model Road Safety Act is continuing. In early December 2019 team members met with senior officials of Punjab Province. The photographs show consultation meetings with Asad Rehman Gilani (Secretary Transport Department/Chairman Punjab Provincial Transport Authority) and members of his team, and with Wajiullah Kundi (Secretary, Excise and Taxation) and members of his team.
