Say NO to violation on road
The Ministry of Communications is leading the development of a new Model Road Safety Act for Pakistan. If adopted by Federal, Province and Territory Governments, it will modernise the road safety laws of Pakistan and harmonise federal and provincial law, replacing the 55 year laws currently still in force in many areas. The key issues that the model law will address include driver licensing, vehicle registration, commercial road transport regulation, law enforcement, road administration and post-crash response.
Road laws are important for road safety. They set out the rules which everyone must comply with, for the benefit for all road users. Serious offences must be accompanied by strong penalties. We must ensure that drivers have the skills and knowledge necessary for safe driving, and that the vehicles they use are safe. Many other issues are dealt with in road laws, such as regulation of the road transport industry.
